3. Lamont Paris, South Carolina

Another name to watch as a potential next head coach for the Ohio State basketball team is current South Carolina head coach Lamont Paris.

Paris has been doing an insane job at South Carolina this season as they rank 11th in the country with a 21-3 record. Right now, he is the favorite to win National Coach of the Year in college basketball with the Gamecocks’ incredible season so far.

Prior to South Carolina, Paris was the head coach at Chattanooga from 2017-2022, and he led them to the NCAA Tournament in 2021-2022. He was an assistant coach for all those great Wisconsin teams from 2010-2017. His ties to Ohio State are that he grew up in Findlay, Ohio. Whose dream isn’t to coach at the biggest school in the state you’re from? He would be another excellent candidate to take over the Ohio State basketball program. He also coaches former Buckeye Meechie Johnson at South Carolina right now.

The Ohio State basketball job should be very popular and sought after by many. The three coaches mentioned are the three favorites to watch for, but a few other names to watch are Nate Oats at Alabama, Mick Cronin at UCLA, and Dusty May from Florida Atlantic. These coaches would need to be bought out from their current school, but Miller’s and Paris’ would be the most manageable.
