Marvin Harrison Jr. is the first Ohio State football player drafted
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program only had one first-round pick this year. That was Marvin Harrison Jr. That was expected because of just how good Harrison Jr. is. He's the most NFL-ready receiver in this year's Draft. For my money, he's the best non-QB in the Draft.
Harrison Jr. was the best player the Buckeyes had for each of the last two seasons. He put up 1,200+ yards and 14 touchdowns in each of the last two seasons. That's despite having Kyle McCord throwing him the ball last season. He still put up ridiculous numbers.
Now, Harrison Jr. will be a weapon in the NFL. He has been taken by the Arizona Cardinals, which is good because they need receiver help badly. Harrison Jr. can come in right away and be the best receiver on the roster for them. Their offense gets better immediately.
There would have been some other teams that could have been a better fit for him in terms of team success. It might take a couple of years for Harrison Jr. to make the playoffs. But if he's as amazing as he was with the Ohio State football program, he very well might improve on that goal.
Now the Buckeyes sit and wait for Friday to get more players taken. We aren't sure who is going to be the second Buckeye off the board yet. This is one of the rare years in the last decade where there aren't a whole horde of Ohio State football players being taken in the first round.
Congratulations to Marv. He's a great player and a great person. He works hard on his craft and will continue to do so at the next level. I look forward to him dominating the NFL just as he did the Big Ten and the rest of college football.
