The Ohio State football program produces a ton of NFL talent every single year. The NFL is flooded with Buckeyes at every position on the field. A lot of them have gotten paid a lot of money because they are one of the best players at their position in the league.

Another former Buckeyes has signed a contract extension this offseason. He's actually the player who has been in the NFL the longest. That player is Cameron Heyward. Heyward has been in the league since 2011 when he was a first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Heyward now has a chance to spend his entire career in Pittsburgh. Heyward has signed a three-year deal worth $45 million. The contract will keep him tied to Pittsburgh until he's 38 years old. His presence with the Steelers is clearly very valuable to that organization.

Heyward was really good when he was with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was Second-team All-Big Ten in 2009 and First-team All-Big Ten in 2010. That led him to be the second-to-last pick in the first round in 2011. He's been a Steelers ever since.

The Buckeyes have a lot of guys who have gotten paid in recent years. A ton of them have had really high moments as a pro. None of them have had Heyward's staying power. He's made himself extremely valuable even at an old age. His leadership is what makes him so valuable now.

It's unclear how long Heyward will continue to keep playing, but this will definitely be his final contract. It would be madness if he continued to play after his age-38 season. He's already accomplished a lot as a pro, so there's not much more he has to prove as a professional.
