Kyle McCord transfer is working out for Ohio State football team and McCord

The Ohio State football program has a new starting quarterback this season. That's working out for both the Buckeyes and the former starter.

The Ohio State football team couldn't get where they wanted to go in 2023. Part of that was because Kyle McCord was good, not great. He just couldn't raise the ceiling of the team high enough to beat the best team that they played, which was Michigan. It wasn't all his fault though.

McCord didn't get a lot of help from the offensive line. It was the worst unit on the field and they sometimes didn't give him enough time to throw the ball down the field. At the end of the year, the Buckeyes decided it was best for McCord and the team to go their separate ways.

Will Howard came in through the transfer portal. Now he's the starter for the Buckeyes. So far, he's played pretty well. He hasn't turned it over yet and has helped the Buckeyes score 108 points in their first two weeks. McCord has been fantastic at his new school. This seems to have worked out for both parties.

McCord has been nothing short of spectacular in his first two games. He's already thrown for eight touchdown passes. Howard has already shown the value of his legs, which is something McCord couldn't quite bring to the table. That seems to be working out for both parties.

Ohio State is happy to have a quarterback who can raise the offense's ceiling by being a dual-threat guy. McCord is thriving in a situation where every game isn't do-or-die. This transfer seems to be the best thing for both parties and it looks like a win-win this early in the year.

Of course, things can always change. The Ohio State Buckeyes haven't played anyone good yet and McCord hasn't played the best ACC teams yet. I still feel that both the Buckeyes and McCord will be happy with the decisions that were made in the offseason.
