The former transfer from Mississippi did not join the Ohio State football program until early May last year. Not participating in spring practice may have contributed to his lack of playing time in 2023. He saw action in just nine games and never for more than seven plays. Considering he played in all of Mississippi’s 13 games the year before, those numbers are disappointing. But, make no mistake, Malone has all the tools and the potential is there.

The junior from Bergen Catholic was the top player in New Jersey and is an athlete-he won a national championship as a member of Mississippi’s baseball team. Although only 6’4”, he has long arms for a defensive tackle and uses them well when bullrushing.

Tyliek Williams and Ty Hamilton are entrenched as the starters, but you can never have enough quality interior defensive linemen. Malone has the ability to be part of the regular rotation at the position and make an impact when he’s on the field.
