Former Ohio State swimmer wins a gold medal in relay
By Ryan Stano
We are in the early stages of the Paris Olympics. The opening ceremonies were on Friday and it was a glorious setting. There are plenty of Ohio State Buckeyes who are in Paris representing their countries in hopes of winning a gold medal for themselves and their country.
One of the things that the United States does best is produce elite swimmers. From Mark Spitz to Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte, the US has a long history of having elite swimmers in the Olympics. They have some great ones in this year's 2024 Olympics as well.
Gold medals are the standard when it comes to the Olympic swimming events. Former Ohio State swimmer Hunter Armstrong is trying his best to help add to that legacy of great swimmers. He certainly was able to do that on Saturday night with his performance in the 4 X 100 relay.
Armstrong was the third leg of the freestyle 4 X 100 relay. He was swimming alongside Chris Guiliano, Jack Alexy, and Caleb Dressel. Armstrong was able to put the Americans in a great spot to take home the gold after he swam a blistering 46.75-second leg. That really helped Dressel in that final leg.
There are plenty of other opportunities for Ohio State athletes to earn a gold medal. A few of them already have. Armstrong just happens to be on one of the more recognizable parts of Team USA. This won't be the only opportunity for a gold medal from an American swimmer either.
The Olympics will continue to go on until August 11th. They only come around once every four years, so ethe Buckeyes who are out in Paris are going to do their best to make sure that they do everything they can to earn a medal and bring home some glory.
