Former Ohio State football player sues the university
By Ryan Stano
One of the most hyped recruits in Ohio State football history was Terrelle Pryor. Pryor was one of the top recruits in the country back in 2008. He and Julio Jones were the talk of the recruiting universe. One of those players ended up having a great college career and a dominant NFL career. The other player is Pryor.
Pryor always left me wanting more as a fan. He never developed as a pocket passer. He was just a really athletic guy who could get chunks of yards with his legs. In his career with the Ohio State Buckeyes, he never threw for more than 2800 yards in a season. In his final season, he averaged 213 yards per game.
I wouldn't say Pryor was a bad quarterback by any means. I just don't think he lived up to the hype. He also was responsible for Tattoogate, which kept the Buckeyes from playing for a national championship in 2012. Now, he's back in the news for another bad reason.
Former Ohio State football player Terrelle Pryor is suing the university
Pryor has now sued the university, the NCAA, and the Big Ten over his and former Ohio State football players' names, images, and likenesses. He is requesting that he and other former Buckeyes receive monetary compensation for using their NIL in the past and for any future use of it.
This isn't the only time a former player has sued his university for this reason. Reggie Bush has sued USC for the same reason. A host of Michigan players have done the same thing. It seems that anyone who played before 2016 is trying to sue for past damages.
As with anything with the NCAA, this will not get resolved anytime soon. They are facing multiple lawsuits with this, so it's going to be a while before anything is taken care of. It's one last jab from Pryor to a university that game him a five-year show cause.
