Former Ohio State football player Damon Arnette was unexpectedly taken in the first round of the 2020 draft by the Raiders. He was widely projected as a second-round pick. While he was good with the Buckeyes, he was never as good as he thought he was.

Arnette did not adjust to NFL life well. He lasted just two seasons with the Raiders and played just 13 games. He was released after that and had a couple of stints on practice squads. Arnette hasn't been with any NFL team since 2022 and is still just 27 years old.

His trouble with the law is a big reason why he hasn't gotten another shot in the league. We told you about an incident he had about a year ago. Another incident popped up yesterday too, although Arnette and his attorney dispute as to why he was arrested.

Arnette was allegedly arrested on meth and gun charges while in Texas. This would mark yet another troubling incident with the cops. Arnette, however, disputes those reports and released a statement saying he was actually just arrested because he didn't have the proper prescription for the drugs he was taking.

I'm not sure what exactly to believe here, but where there's smoke there's usually fire. Arnette has a history of being in trouble with the law so he's not exactly in a spot for me to give him the benefit of the doubt. I hope for his sake that this is a mistake and that charges don't get filed.

It's unfortunate that we have to see another incident with the former Ohio State football player in the news for the wrong reasons. There's no doubt that his football career is over, even if this incident does go away. Teams just can't trust him on or off the field. I seriously hope this is the last time we hear about Arnette having legal issues.
