There is a lot of pressure surrounding the Ohio State football team in 2024. It comes from the enormous amount of hype that the Buckeyes have heading into a critical season. Ryan Day is coaching for his job now that his safety net has disappeared.

Day has arguably had his best off-season since taking over as head coach. He brought in Chip Kelly to run the offense and was able to grab several impact players in the transfer portal. It's all set this team up to be one of the best in the country on both sides of the ball.

Fans are demanding that Day prove he can beat Michigan this year. If he doesn't, he's gone. In order to beat TTUN and move on to competing for a national championship, he needs the team to be running on all cylinders. That means having the quarterback position settled and running smoothly.

How patient will Ryan Day be with the Ohio State football team?

While Day hasn't named a starter yet at the quarterback position, all signs point towards Will Howard getting the nod. Howard has three years of starting experience at Kansas State and is a running threat. Even with all of that, he's not the elite type of QB fans are used to having.

Howard is very good, but there are some talented quarterbacks behind him on the depth chart as well. There are multiple five-star quarterbacks who think they are good enough to start right away. If Howard struggles out of the gate, the noise will be loud about putting one of those guys in.

How patient will Day be with that position? Will he allow Howard to work through a bad game or two before the meat of the schedule? Is he going to be patient with other positions on the team as well? Will he let the offensive line figure things out? It's unclear.

That will be one of the questions Ohio State football fans will be seeking the answer to as the season starts to unfold in the Fall.
