Elite receiver has Ohio State football program in his final four
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program is known for recruiting the best receivers in the country. Last year alone, they brought in two five-star receiver recruits. One of them, Jeremiah Smith, has been hyped up to unreal levels this Spring. Every year, the Buckeyes reload at that position.
While they don't have any receivers committed to them right now, they are working on that. They are in contact with several highly-touted receiver recruits. One of them has just put the Ohio State football program in his final four. That receiver is Vernell Brown III.
Brown is a four-star recruit from Orlando, Florida. He is the father of Vernell Brown Jr. who played corner for the Florida Gators under Urban Meyer. In fact, Florida is one of the other schools in his final four. He has Ohio State, Florida, Florida State, and Miami.
The fact that Ohio State is the only school outside of the state of Florida that he is considering speaks highly of how much he thinks of Brian Hartline. Hartline is the best recruiter in the country for any position group. Brown recognizes that and wants to play for the best.
Brown is actually projected to choose the Buckeyes when it's all said and done. He is visiting Ohio State at the end of the month, so maybe that's when Ryan Day and his staff can lock down his commitment. He won't be the only recruit visiting that weekend either.
Ohio State hasn't had someone commit to them in a while. It's about time that someone changes that. I think we will see a couple of commitments happen by the end of the month. June will see a flurry of recruits commit too because that's when camp season really starts to ramp up.
Brown would be a good receiver for the Buckeyes. He'd be a nice slot receiver piece to add.
