Can Ohio State flip the commitment of a player at a much-needed position?
By Del Barris
Ohio State currently has the number one recruiting class in the country (according to 247Sports). It includes three 5-star players and has a total of nine who are rated in the top ten at their position. In all, 12 of the 26 commits are ranked in the top fifteen of their position. But there is one thing lacking in this recruiting class-it has only three offensive linemen. The Buckeyes’ coaching staff is working to add a much-needed player to that position group.
The guy who is getting a lot of attention from recruiting experts as possibly flipping to the Buckeyes is tackle Damola Ajidahun, who is committed to Georgia Tech. Of those three linemen in this OSU class, only one is a tackle. So, getting the 6’6”, 280-pound native of Duluth, Georgia to flip his commitment to is going to fill a real need.
According to longtime recruiting insider Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts, Ajidahun is scheduled for an official visit to Ohio State on October 5th for the Iowa game. He feels there is a very good chance Ryan Day and offensive line coach Justin Frye will be able to convince Ajiduhan to flip his commitment. Kurelic has not given any sort of timeline for him to make a decision after his visit.
Damola Ajidahun is a 4-star recruit who is the 25th-ranked tackle in the country according to 247Sports’ Composite Rankings. But at just 280 pounds, he’ll definitely need to add weight before he is ready to compete for a position on a two-deep depth chart. He’s more of a project to be developed than a plug-and-play type.
Before committing to Georgia Tech in early August, Ajidahun also visited Georgia and Mississippi. But the Buckeyes appear to be the clear leader if he is going to flip his commitment.
