An Ohio State football player is on the Biletnikoff Award preseason watchlist
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team has always had great receivers. They have some of the best receivers in the country year after year. They had the best one in college football last season in Marvin Harrison Jr. Harrison Jr. was the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after a great career with the Buckeyes.
Harrison Jr. also won the Biletnikoff Award for the best pass-catcher in the country. It was an easy award to give out considering that Harrison Jr. was also a finalist for the Heisman. Quite frankly, he should have won it in 2022 too, but he was edged out by Jalin Hyatt.
This year, the Ohio State Buckeyes have another receiver that the Biletnikoff is looking out for. That receiver is senior Emeka Egbuka. Egbuka is looking to have a bounce-back season and make himself a first-round pick. Last season, he was hurt so he wasn't able to play his best.
Ohio State football player Emeka Egbuka recognized on Biletnikoff Award preseason watchlist
Egbuka is the best receiver that the Buckeyes have right now, but he might not be the only receiver that the Biletnikoff Award watches throughout the season. True freshman Jeremiah Smith continues to impress and he could end the year as the biggest big-play threat that the Buckeyes have.
Smith won't be the top option early in the year, but he will certainly come on strong at the end once he gets a feel for the college game. Egbuka is going to get a lot of the receiving yards early, hence why he is on this preseason watchlist. He's one of the best players in the country.
It would be really cool if the Ohio State football team could go back-to-back with this award. Not many schools can say that they have done that. The Buckeyes certainly have a chance.
