A team on Ohio State's schedule who might end up being better than people think
By Tyler Lyman
The Ohio State football team every year plays some pretty bad teams, and one of those teams most years is Nebraska. They have been playing pretty badly lately and haven't really been a problem for Ohio State in recent years.
Nebraska has been one of the top teams that have improved the most. They were able to pull in 5-star Dylan Raiola, and picked up Dante Dowdell, running back from Oregon. They also got two receivers, Jahmal Banks from Wake Forrest, and Isaiah Neyor from Texas. They have been picking up some needed pieces.
They were also able to bring back seven of their defensive starters, which is one fewer than what Ohio State was able to bring back. I don't believe they will be ranked, or really either that good but I do think they could end up bring some fight when they play Ohio State.
The Cornhuskers should be better than they were at the end under Scott Frost. Matt Rhule had a rough first year, but his roster was pretty devoid of talent. I'm going to assume that the team is going to be better in year two now that Rhule has had a class to get some of his guys in there.
Does this mean that I think Nebraska has a shot to beat the Buckeyes? Of course not. They are still a lower-tier Big Ten team, especially in a conference that has now added four more teams. Even if they don't finish in the top five of the conference, they are going to play more close games this year.
Ohio State has a fairly easy schedule for the most part. They have three tough games that will get most of their attention. Nebraska shouldn't sneak up on them, but they might sneak up on some other teams.
