A letter to Washington from Ohio State football fans
By Ryan Stano
Dear Washington,
As an Ohio State football fan, the last three years have been incredibly frustrating. Losing to Michigan three years in a row has been painful. Losing in the College Football Playoff by one point was tough. We aren't very happy with the current coaching situation here in Columbus.
Now our arch-rival is playing for a national title against you. I understand that starting next year, your team will become foes with us and we will try to beat each other for a conference title. But that's not for another year, and Ohio State and Washington don't even play each other next season.
Speaking for every Ohio State football fan, I beg of you to just do one thing; beat Michigan. That's all we ask. You can have the national championship. After losing in the CFP with Jake Browning and company in 2016, you have waited for another shot at this moment. Now, it's here.
Seize the moment. Let Michael Penix Jr. air the ball out as much as possible. Scheme Rome Odunze open like you have all season long. Let your defense be opportunistic and get timely turnovers. We as Buckeye fans need it all tonight. We share your passion for Purple and Gold.
Michigan's victories against the Buckeyes and others will likely be vacated. We know that. What won't be vacated is my memory of this game. I don't want to see chesty TTUN fans in my mentions on social media because they finally won a non-shared national title for the first time in 50+ years.
What we want as Buckeye fans is to see you hold up the trophy tonight. We want you guys to be happy tonight. We can be friends for one evening. When next year comes around, then we can go back to being foes. Just don't let us down tonight. We need this almost as much as you do.
Signed, Ohio State football fans.
