A former Ohio State football player has been spectacular with his new team
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team decided to go a different route with the quarterback position. After last season, Kyle McCord decided to transfer out of the program. According to him, it wasn't his decision as much as Ryan Day and Ohio State told him he needed to leave.
In the end, McCord decided to transfer to Sryacuse. The Buckeyes decided to bring Will Howard from Kansas State in to be their quarterback this year. So far, Howard has looked good in his new role. His legs add something that McCord didn't bring to the team last year.
McCord has found some success with his new team as well. The Orange are coming off an upset of 23rd-ranked Georgia Tech and McCord was a big reason for that. In fact, the former Buckeye has looked nothing short of spectacular in his first two games with his new team.
Former Ohio State football player Kyle McCord looks great at Syracuse
Through two games, McCord looks a lot better than he did in his first few games with the Ohio State Buckeyes. In Week 1 against Ohio, he was 27/39 for 354 yards and four touchdowns. He also threw one pick in that game. On Saturday against the Yellow Jackets, he was 32/46 for 381 yards and four tochdowns.
Throwing for 735 yards and eight touchdowns in his first two games is quite good. Howard, in contrast, has 520 yards and four touchdowns through the air. He does have a rushing touchdown though, something that McCord doesn't have. Howard also doesn't have a pick yet.
McCord's new change of scenery has clearly done him good. He is on a team that doesn't have as high of expectations and plays in a worse conference. This quarterback switch seems to have worked for all parties involved so far this year.
