The 2024 season is shaping up to be a pivotal one for Ohio State football, with the team setting its sights on nothing less than a national championship. Amidst the buzz, there are a few players who might not be getting the attention they deserve or have been rumors that they aren't going to play a huge role during the season.

In this article, we're highlighting three underrated players who could play crucial roles in Ohio State's journey this season. These guys may not be in the spotlight, but they have the skills and determination to make a significant impact. Let's take a closer look at why these players could be the game-changers for the Buckeyes in 2024.

Will Howard (QB)

Will Howard is one of these players where I don't think his name isn't recognized but his talents are. He is under a lot of pressure currently because even he said that it's Natty or Bust. Anything short of a national championship in 2024 will be a loss for the program and fans. But some fans have been saying that Howard is going to be a system quarterback and all he has to do is at least be decent.

I disagree that Will Howard isn't full of talent and that he will be a system quarterback. If people believe that the Buckeyes can win a championship with a system quarterback then they need to do some more research. For instance, last year Kyle McCord was a system quarterback, had the best wide receiver in the country, Marvin Harrison Jr., a talented running back with TreVeyon Henderson, and a very good defense. Even with all that McCord couldn't get it done.

Will Howard won't be a system quarterback, he will be able to use his feet to make up for plays that fail at the line. With the potential of the offensive line not being the best some sacks will be evaded by Howard being able to get out of pocket and use his feet to get away. I believe Howard will shock many who doubt he will be more than a system quarterback.

Davison Igbinosun (CB)

Igbinosun played in 13 games for the Buckeyes in the 2023 season. From those 13 games, he was able to get 59 total tackles, which was the most tackles from any non-linebacker position. He was targeted 71 times during the season and only let up 353 yards and 5 touchdowns. He was also able to break up 5 passes.

His run defense was very excellent too, getting an 89.6 grade, according to PFF. His 18 stops tied with Sonny Styles for most among Ohio State defensive backs. He is very physical and can be a huge game-changer for the Buckeyes. But his talents can be hidden behind Denzel Burke, who is very good too. But I am expecting more people to realize Igbinosun's talents this next fall when he is one of the most dominant on the field.

Gee Scott Jr (TE)

Gee Scott is going to be the replacement for Cade Stover who was drafted in April to the Houston Texans. After spring practice, he will start as the tight end 1 after having a little position battle with Ohio transfer Will Kacmarek. I don't think he will have as much play time or impact that Stover had but I do believe he will one of the better tight ends in the nation.

At 243 lbs he is going to be able to block when he needs to. I think it might not be that good for his receiving, but I do believe that Scott will have a very decent last season with the Buckeyes.

These players' talents aren't being appreciated as much as they should, but all of that will most likely change after the 2024 season starts and they all get to go out on the field.
