Paul Finebaum goes full Paul Finebaum with worst Ohio State take of the summer

This take just seems ridiculous at this point, especially when said about the defending National Champions.

Paul Finebaum has done it again! Finebaum has always been a big supporter of the SEC and the players in the SEC, so when the notorious college football analyst was on Get Up last week on ESPN, his take on Texas vs. Ohio State in Week 1 should honestly surprise no one.

Clearly, Finebaum believes that Texas quarterback Arch Manning is the second coming of the greatest college football player there ever was. He believes this so much so that he guaranteed that Manning would be the reason Texas 100% beats Ohio State in their season opener matchup. For once, though, it is not just because of the name on the back of his jersey, but instead, it was playing behind former Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers for a season and getting time in head coach Steve Sarkisian's system.

While that all seems great, let's not forget that Ewers was not amazing last season and was never able to lead Texas to a championship. Let's also not forget that the team's Manning did play last season, which was not the highest quality of teams. Playing Ohio State is not the same as playing Louisiana Monroe or last-place Mississippi State. Ohio State is going to be another beast for Manning to face, one he may not be ready for.

However, Finebaum believes that Manning is the sole reason he can guarantee that the Longhorns will prevail over the Buckeyes.

"The experience of being an understudy to Ewers and understanding Sark's system is what's going to get them over the top and probably - well, not probably - definitely beat Ohio State in the opener," Finebaum said.

Paul Finebaum seems to be a little obsessed with Arch Manning

There is no doubt that Arch Manning is a talented football player; the fact that his last name is Manning gives him a lot of credit that other guys don't get. However, he has also earned the respect and hype that he has gotten with his play on the field.

It does seem, though, that Paul Finebaum might be a bit obsessed with the young Texas quarterback. There is a liking for a guy, there is even loving his play, but then there is what Finebaum is doing, which just seems a bit odd.

"I am as married to Arch Manning as an old geezer like me can be to a young, great college quarterback, but I like everything about him," Finebaum said.

Manning is great, and he certainly will be a handful for Ohio State to deal with, especially so early in the season in Week 1, but the Buckeyes are the reigning National Champions. Ohio State is never a team that can be counted out for any matchup, so for Finebaum to say Texas is guaranteed to beat Ohio State in Week 1 is absolutely absurd.
