The Ohio State football program doesn't have issues beating teams from other conferences. A couple of years ago, en route to winning a national championship, they took down teams from the Big Ten, SEC, and an independent school. They didn't have to take on an ACC school.
Still, the Buckeyes are able to take down schools from all over the country. They have proven that over their history. The rest of the Big Ten has, too. The bowl record from the last few years proves that fact. Over the past three years, they have been the best conference in the country.
Yet, one ACC coach doesn't think so. Pittsburgh Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi thinks that the ACC is comparable to the Big Ten. In fact, he thinks the ACC is a much better conference, and he said some stupid things about the Big Ten during Media Day.
Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi claims the Big Ten is overrated
Not only does Narduzzi claim that the ACC is better than the Big Ten, but he claims it has more skill, too.
“It’s better than the Big Ten; it’s got more skill… I’ve said that for years, and I’m gonna stick to my guns.”
Narduzzi is 1-6 against the Big Ten in his tenure with the Panthers, so it sure doesn't look like his players are more skilled than the ones in the Big Ten. Pitt also has an 0-2 record in postseason games under Narduzzi, which further shows that perhaps he should focus more on his own team than the Big Ten.
The Ohio State Buckeyes haven't played Pitt for quite a while, but they would smoke them if they played anytime soon. That is how much more talented they are compared to what Pitt is able to offer. The only ACC team they might struggle with is Miami, as they did in the Cotton Bowl.
The Ohio State football program can once again prove Pat Narduzzi wrong
Ohio State has a real shot to make Narduzzi eat his words. If they are able to win a national championship, as they have set out as a goal to do, it would be their second in three years. That would also be the fourth straight year that a Big Ten team has won the title.
Meanwhile, the ACC hasn't won a national title in about a decade. That was when Clemson won it all, and they are now a has-been program. The ACC is now stuck hoping that Miami can continue the momentum it gathered from a year ago. Other than that, they don't have a great option.
Ryan Day knows better than to say something dumb like this. He knows that he plays in the best conference in America. He has helped lead the team into some really hard games and has come out victorious. Now, he wants to complete all three of his goals in the same season. At this point in his career, it's the one thing he hasn't done.
