Oregon is trying and failing to flip two elite Ohio State football recruits

Despite Dan Lanning trying to flip them, these recruits are locked in with the Buckeyes.

The Ohio State football team has the weakest recruiting class since Ryan Day took over as head coach. Right now, they have just the ninth-best recruiting class in the country. They are still hoping to add some firepower to the class at the end of the year, but they have work to do.

While the totality of the 2026 class might not be the strongest, they have great receivers committed to them, just as they do every year. The Ohio State Buckeyes have the best crop of receivers in the country year in and year out, thanks to the work of Brian Hartline on the recruiting trail.

Right now, the Buckeyes have five receiver commits for the 2026 class. Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are trying to flip two of them right now. He is trying to take both Chris Henry Jr. and Kayden Dixon-Wyatt from the Buckeyes, and both are high school teammates.

Oregon is failing to flip two wide receiver recruits from the Ohio State football team

According to Tom Loy of 247Sports, Lanning keeps trying to get both receivers on campus for a visit, but neither receiver is budging from their commitments to the Buckeyes. Henry Jr. has been locked into his commitment for over two years, so he is certainly not going to flip.

Dixon-Wyatt committed back in May and has shown no signs of wavering, either. Oregon is just trying to waive a bunch of NIL money at them and seeing if it will stick. Clearly, neither of them is impressed with the flaunting of the money. They are more concerned with what the Buckeyes offer them.

Henry Jr. might be good enough to see the field as a true freshman. Pairing him with Jeremiah Smith, Brandon Inniss, and Mylan Graham would be very dangerous for opponents to stop. Carnell Tate will likely decide to enter the 2026 NFL Draft. Still, those three receivers are plenty good enough.

Ryan Day knows that Brian Hartline is the best recruiter in the country, so he's going to let him handle this recruitment in full. His track record is second to none when it comes to recruiting players at any position. It would be shocking if either receiver flips to Oregon.

If Lanning were smart, he would try to flip receivers from some other program. Receivers don't flip from Ohio State once they have committed to Hartline.
