Every year, the Ohio State Buckeyes produce a stud wide receiver for the NFL. The last five drafts have seen a Buckeye receiver get drafted in the first round. Those receivers absolutely took the league by storm in Week 3, as they were making plays all over the field.
Garrett Wilson was one of the receivers who was making plays. He had an incredible touchdown catch for the Jets, leaping over a defender to do so. He finished the game with 10 catches for 107 yards and his incredible touchdown. Wilson wasn't the only receiver to make headlines.
Former Ohio State WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba goes off again for the Seahawks
Jaxon Smith-Njigba proved once again why he is the best receiver in the NFL, even in a losing effort. For Seattle, he had 10 catches for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was the best player on the field, even though the Seahawks ended up losing the game.
His former Buckeye teammate, Chris Olave, also had a strong day. The Saints also lost, but it wasn't his fault. He was once again the leading receiver for the team, catching nine passes for 107 yards. It was a clear domination by Ohio State receivers during Week 3 of the NFL season.
All of these receivers were great for the Buckeyes during their time with the program. Olave is the all-time leader in touchdowns for the Ohio State football program, at least for one more week. Wilson was perhaps the most physically talented receiver that Ohio State had. JSN might be the best pro.
Next season, Jeremiah Smith will be joining the fraternity of former Buckeye receivers in the NFL. He will be a first-round pick, and he should dominate at the professional level, too. Receivers weren't the only position group to have a good week in the NFL, though.
Ohio State defenders play well in Week 3 of the NFL season
Chase Young has finally turned into the player that everyone thought he was going to be coming out of Ohio State. He has turned into a menace to quarterbacks. He had two sacks once again against the Raiders. That brings his sack total up to 3.5 this season.
Sonny Styles had himself a strong game as a rookie, as well. In the Commanders' win over the Seahawks, Styles was making plays all over the field. He had five tackles, two passes knocked down, an interception, and an interception. It was the best game of his young career.
Between the fact that defenders are making stops all over the field and the fact that three former Buckeyes lead the NFL in contested catches, it's clear that Ohio State is dominating both the college and the NFL scene at the moment. It's a good time to be a Buckeye.
Strong performances from these players in the league are great for recruiting, and you can bet that Ohio State's coaches are taking note of all of the performances from this past week. That helps them continue to get great players.
