The Ohio State Women’s basketball team bounced back from their loss to Indiana on Thursday with a win over Purdue. It was Senior Day for the Buckeyes, who honored seniors Taylor Thierry, Eboni Walker, Ajae Petty, and Madison Greene. While Ohio State will miss these Buckeyes, the good news is their biggest stars will be back for at least one more year of basketball. However, there is still a ton of basketball left and a lot to play for.

The Buckeyes won decisively 98-46, more than doubling Purdue on the scoreboard. Ohio State is 23-4, and Purdue is 9-18. The Buckeyes should have blown up the Boilermakers. Cotie McMahon had 16 points, Jaloni Cambridge had 20 points, and sharpshooter Chance Gray led all with 21 points. Senior Ajae Petty was the player of the game for me as she had a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

The Buckeyes were snipers today, especially from beyond the three-point arc. They were 52.4% from the field but were a whopping 14 of 27 from downtown for 51.9%! They dominated all over the court. Inside they had 45 rebounds to Purdue’s 33 and had 30 points in the paint to Purdue’s 20.

They dominated the turnover battle the most. The Buckeyes forced 12 steals out of Purdue’s total of 21 turnovers. Ohio State had 35 points off of those turnovers, and Purdue got only 10 points off of 11 Buckeye turnovers.

Ohio State needed a win like his after their losses to UCLA, USC, and Indiana. They'll regain some much-needed momentum if they can win their last two regular-season games. They play their last home game of the season on Wednesday against Michigan State.

The Spartans are ranked #22 in the nation and are sporting a 20-7 record. The Buckeyes will then travel to Maryland on March 2nd, and depending on the final conference standings, the Big Ten tournament will begin on March 5th.
