Ohio State transfer flirting with Oregon is a kick in the face to Ryan Day

Ryan Day has struggling the transfer portal this year, and this news certainly won't make anyone feel better.

It is bad enough that Ohio State struggled heavily in the Transfer Portal this season, with 33 players currently heading out. However, it hurts even worse when some of those players are looking to go play for other teams in the Big Ten.

That is exactly what former Ohio State defensive back Aaron Scott Jr. is doing with his trips to Wisconsin and now to Oregon. Granted, he also has a tripe Tennessee on the books, and he has also shown interest in LSU, but the trip to Oregon just seems like a kick in the face to Day.

The trip to Oregon, which was confirmed by 247Sports, just feels like a betrayal as the Ducks and the Buckeyes have formed a bit rivalry of sorts, especially when it comes to recruiting. Both Ryan Day and Dan Lanning are known as some of the best recruiters in the country, and now Scott is potentially jumping ship for the Ducks.

Scott will have three years of eligibility left after playing two seasons with the Buckeyes.

Ryan Day has to find some way to get through the Transfer Portal

Ohio State kicks butt when it comes to recruiting out of high school, but if Indiana has proven anything in the last two years, it is not all about getting the highest-ranked recruits out of high school. Hoosiers head coach Curt Cignetti has proven that it's the coaching that matters most.

Day doesn't have to keep going after the biggest names in the portal; he just needs guys who are willing to work hard and be coached at a high level. The Buckeyes have now brought 12 guys in from the portal, but that certainly isn't enough to offset the loss.
