While nothing but bad news has been hitting the Ohio State football team this week, it feels like some positive updates will be coming soon. That's because the transfer portal is officially opening up on Friday and some big-time commits should be on the way.

Ohio State running back enters the portal for the second time

It goes without saying, but countless eyes are going to be on Penn State pass-rusher Chaz Coleman. The former 4-star prospect just wrapped up his first campaign with the Nittany Lions, but with James Franklin getting fired, the door has opened for him to head elsewhere.

Several teams have been mentioned as potential landing spots for the youngster, but Ohio State has been viewed as the favorite from the moment he announced he was going to be transferring. In some promising news for the Ohio State faithful, an official On3 prediction has come in for Coleman to be Columbus-bound soon enough:

Ohio State football has been predicted to land Chaz Coleman once the portal opens

Per the 247Sports transfer rankings, Coleman is ranked a 5-star playmaker, the No. 1 EDGE in the country and the No. 4 overall player overall. Coleman is an Ohio product, so bringing him back to his home state is of course going to be great for the Ohio State staff.

While bringing in Coleman would be fantastic, it's of course not going to be the only priority for Day in the coming days. The offensive line needs massive help, as we all saw how bad the group performed in the CFP loss to Miami on Wednesday night. On top of that, some kicking help is needed.

Yup, there are several positions of need for the portal, but getting things going with a bang in signing Coleman sure would be sweet. Could he end up committing to the Buckeyes this weekend? That's something for people to keep a close eye on, as it wouldn't be a shocker at all to see him make a quick decision.
