There is no better player on the Ohio State football team than Jeremiah Smith. Smith is the best athlete in the country. He can make a catch if the ball is anywhere near his hands. Smith showed that against UCLA with an incredible one-handed catch on the sidelines.

Heading into this game, Smith was listed as questionable with an undisclosed injury. Yet, Smith started and seemed not to have any issues moving around. He had four catches for 40 yards in the first half of this game, but was seen without his helmet on the sidelines towards the end of the second quarter.

As the Ohio State Buckeyes were heading into the locker room at halftime with a 27-0 lead, Smith was shown running gingerly off the field. In fact, it didn't look like there was much running. He was moving with a significant limp as the Buckeyes left the field.

Smith was having significant issues getting off the field. Take a look at the video below.

It seems pretty clear that Smith will not lay the rest of this game. There's no reason for Smith to be out there with Ohio State dominating the Bruins. If this injury turns out to be something more concerning, he should be held out of the game next week against Rutgers, as well.

It's unclear exactly what injury Smith sustained. Ohio State needs him against Michigan, but they don't need him against Rutgers. The Buckeyes wouldn't have let him play in this game if they thought that he could aggravate his injury into something serious.

Ryan Day will likely address the injury after the game is over. Both Smith and Carnell Tate are out, so Ohio State will be without its top two receivers for this game. The backups will be getting a lot of reps for the rest of this game. There's a good chance they do that against Rutgers, too.
