The Ohio State Buckeyes played a tough game against Indiana. In a top-five matchup, that was what the Buckeyes expected. Julian Sayin was going to have to be a big part of the game plan if they were going to knock off Indiana on the road. However, Sayin was not good for most of the game.
Sayin threw two interceptions in the game and missed several wide-open receivers. It was by far the worst game he has played all year. He was 15/29 for 235 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Then, he was knocked out in the fourth quarter.
Ohio State QB Julian Sayin leaves the game with an apparent right arm injury
Sayin was crushed after Phillip Daniels whiffed on a block on the right side. Sayin then fumbled the ball, which Phillip recovered. A play later, Sayin left the field, and Luke Fahey came on the field. Fahey had only played mop-up duty to this point in the season.
Fahey was 9/11 for 203 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions before stepping into the game. In his first series, he was unable to help the Buckeyes score. Sayin was seen going to the locker room with his right arm dangling by his side. It was not a good look for him.
Sayin then came back out of the locker room with his arm in a sling. He did not return to the game, which meant that Fahey had to finish the rest of the game. Fahey looked panicked for most of the game once he came in, which is not what you want from the backup.
If this is a long-term injury, the Buckeyes are in big trouble. Fahey is a true freshman with no experience playing in big games. He can't be trusted to make big throws, even with Jeremiah Smith on the field. This could derail their season moving forward.
