What an awful way to finish the season.

Coming into the game against Oregon, the Ohio State football program had its back against the wall. A loss would eliminate them from the CFP. A win could propel them into a 2024-like run. Instead, it was perhaps the most embarrassing loss in the Ryan Day era.

Ohio State took a 14-0 lead. After that, Ryan Day peed down his leg and ended up letting Oregon score 38 unanswered points. It was the worst possible way for the Buckeyes to show up in this game. It showed that Day clearly doesn't know how to do anything without Julian Sayin.

Ohio State embarrasses the fans with a terrible loss to Oregon

Luke Fahey looked scared after the first quarter. He threw one of the worst interceptions that I have seen all year when he forced it into triple coverage while trying to give it to Devin McCuin. Even worse, he hardly looked Jeremiah Smith's way the entire game.

Fahey went two full hours without targeting Smith. Smith did eventually get a touchdown late, but the game was well in hand at that point. Despite his horrid plays and constant errant throws, Day refused to replace him. Day stuck with Fahey and never put in Tavien St. Clair.

Arthur Smith's play-calling continues to pick the worst possible play calls. He's not doing anything to help his young quarterback, although he can't force Fahey to throw the ball to Smith. At this point, he's not any better than what Brian Hartline was last year.

Matt Patricia has done a terrible job in the last two weeks, as well. The defense has done nothing to help the team win games. In fact, they have been a detriment to the overall effort of the team. After the season, heads need to roll. The coaching staff needs to have major changes to it.

Ryan Day's job is no longer safe

Ryan Day had a lot of goodwill after winning the national championship in 2024. That put him in a conversation that not a lot of Buckeye coaches have been in. Yet, all of that goodwill is gone. This was the first time that Ohio State has allowed 38 unanswered points since 1999.

This team has nothing left to play for at this point except beating TTUN. It's unclear whether or not they will even be able to win that game. This team looks incredibly disjointed, and it wouldn't be shocking to see them lose the rest of the games on the schedule.

Ohio State was the preseason number-one team in the country. It didn't matter. They fell apart as soon as Sayin got hurt. Day and the coaching staff deserve a lot of anger for the fact that they have failed to develop their five-star quarterback. St. Clair needs to play.

There is not much left to watch with this team. It's an inferior product from what should be in front of fans at this point. A 41-28 loss at home is embarrassing.
