Ohio State is fresh off its spring game this past weekend, and now the football fun is set to continue with the 2026 NFL Draft this upcoming weekend. The Buckeyes had an amazing draft last season after winning the National Championship and are set up for another big year.
The Buckeyes could see as many as four players selected in the first round alone in the 2026 NFL Draft. An even better scenario is that Ohio State could have multiple players go as early as the Top 10 as well.
For one Buckeye, though, his draft projections have been stellar since the end of the 2025 season, but lately, it seem shis stock is slipping a little.
Arvell Reese projected to be the second EDGE rusher drafted after Texas Tech's David Bailey
Since the end of the 2025 season, draft analysts have been raving about Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese and what he could bring to an NFL team. Reese was seen as the top EDGE rusher in the draft and projected to go as high as No. 2 in the draft to the New York Jets.
With the No. 1 slot practically a lock for Fernando Mendoza to the Las Vegas Raiders, it has been a battle for the No. 1 spot, and it felt like Reese was the for sure pick, until David Bailey started entering the conversation. The Texas Tech EDGE rusher has slowly gained speed for that No. 2 spot, and the latest CBS Sports mock draft by Jonathan Jones has Reese dropping.
Not only does Jones have Reese dropping from the No. 2 spot, but he also has Reese dropping two spots to No. 4 with the Tennessee Titans. While it doesn't seem like a big drop, it seems like Reese isn't being considered as the top EDGE rusher in the draft anymore.
Jones is surprised even by his own mock draft, not believing the NFL would allow Reese to fall to the defensive mind of Robert Saleh in Tennessee, but he felt Bailey was the better option for what the Jets want. While Jones believes that Reese will be an insane talent in the NFL, he feels the Ohio State product needs to bulk up a bit and adjust to what the NFL plan will be for him.
