Ohio State has been moving quickly in its pursuit of running back target Jordan Hall. He was once committed to Miami (Ohio), but the Buckeyes got him on campus for a visit and offered him shortly after he left town. Penn State and others have followed suit, and the speedster is no longer committed to the Redhawks.
Could he end up being Columbus-bound for his college career? That's what Ryan Day is hoping for, as the Cincinnati speedster is making his way back this weekend for his official visit. The timing is key for Day, as Matt Campbell and Penn State are also pushing hard for his pledge. Some bad news could be coming for Campbell, however, as Steve Wiltfong has put in his official prediction for Ohio State to win this recruiting battle. There's a good chance his recruitment gets wrapped up sooner rather than later, too.

Ohio State is closer than ever to landing in-state running back Jordan Hall over Penn State and others
Hall isn't a household name in recruiting circles, but that doesn't matter at all. According to the 247Sports Composite, he's ranked three stars, the No. 60 running back in the country and No. 32 player out of Ohio for his class. Potentially landing Hall after swinging and missing on 5-star running back David Gabriel Georges might sting a bit for some, but don't just focus on the stars here.
Tennessee gave Georges a three-year NIL deal worth around $6 million, which is just wild. Hall obviously won't even come close to that, which will allow Ohio State to use those funds elsewhere. It's not like the 5-10, 205-pounder isn't some last-minute option either here for the Buckeyes - the Early Signing Period won't get here until December.
With this being Hall's second trip to Ohio State in the last three weeks, his interest in the program is obviously quite high. Now it's time for Day and his staff to get it over the line this weekend, with Kent State coming to town and a lopsided win expected to be on the way. All of this, too, would result in a recruiting setback for Campbell, who also offered Hall and has been working to reel in the in-stater over Ohio State.
Not so fast, Matt. The Buckeyes can remind the new Penn State coach that while he may want to go after prospects from Ohio, Day and his staff have a pretty big fence that Campbell and other Big Ten coaches will have to try and get through. Adding Hall to the 2027 commits list will only reinforce that.
Ohio State currently holds 19 known pledges for the '27 haul, but a running back is noticeably missing from that list. That all could change depending on how Hall's two-day trip goes. If it goes as planned, he'll be a future Buckeye by the time next week rolls around. Should that happen, it'd be another nice recruiting win for Ohio State and force Campbell to lose elsewhere for RB help. That's a win-win if you ask us.
