It is never too early to start thinking about recruiting after the Class of 2026. Actually, Ohio State already has two players committed in the Class of 2027, and they may be well on their way to getting their third.

247Sports has officially crystal-balled 4-star offensive tackle Kalel Johnson to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Johnson is being looked at by over 20 different schools, but the college football recruiting experts believe the Buckeyes have everyone else beat already. Other schools currently looking at Johnson include Kentucky, Indiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Pitt, and Purdue. The Bcuekeys seem to be in battle against a lot of other Big Ten foes.

Johnson is an Ohio native from Cincinnati and is currently ranked as the No. 204 player in the Class of 2027, the No. 22 offensive tackle in the class, and the No. 4 player in the state of Ohio according to 247Sports.

Now this is the first crystal ball for Johnson, so it is subject to change, but it seems the Buckeyes are leading the way, and if Ryan Day has anything to say about it, they won't lose this battle. Johnson comes in currently at 6-foot-7, weighing 281 pounds, which is solid size for an offensive lineman.

Teams can never have too many offensive linemen, and if Ohio State wants to stay elite, they have to keep their O-line in tip-top shape in order to protect the elite quarterback that the Buckeyes always seem to have.

There is no timeline for when Johnson plans on making his commitment; it could come many months from now. However, if he did make his commitment soon, he would join 4-star athlete Jamier Brown and 4-star quarterback Brady Edmunds in the Class of 2027, which is almost certainly going to be just as elite as all of Day's recruiting classes are.
