The Ohio State Buckeyes' offensive coordinator job is still open, but Land-Grant Holy Land's Brett Ludwiczak has a few options that can fill that role. His first listed name is recently fired New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll.

Ludwiczak stressed Josh Allen's development under center, coming into the league as one of the more unheralded quarterbacks of his class, behind Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, and Josh Rosen, but emerging ahead as the first MVP of the bunch in 2024, as the main pull for hiring Daboll.

Ludwiczak also stressed how the Buckeyes are at their best hiring a desired offensive coordinator candidate who's desired in the NFL, like Chip Kelly and Bill O'Brien were.

"Brian Daboll would be a tremendous option to take over for Hartline as offensive coordinator. Daboll was fired by the New York Giants a couple of months ago. Taking the Ohio State offensive coordinator job would allow Daboll to start relevant in the coaching circles without having to take on the full weight of responsibilities as a head coach," Ludwiczak prefaced before saying, "Not that there wouldn’t be plenty of demands as offensive coordinator of the Buckeyes, but at least the media crush in Columbus wouldn’t be anything like what he dealt with in New York.

"What makes Daboll an attractive candidate is that he is a brilliant offensive mind. I saw this when he was offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, my favorite NFL team. Daboll helped to lay the groundwork for turning Josh Allen into a prospect many weren’t sold on coming out of college into one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL today."

"It also helps Daboll has previous experience at the college level, so he is already familiar with what he’d have to do in a high-profile program like Ohio State."

Ohio State will have plenty of competition for Brian Daboll in the NFL

Several NFL franchises will have their eyes on Daboll as their next potential play-caller after he continued his successful ways this past season with rookie Jaxson Dart in the New Jersey Meadowlands.

The Philadelphia Eagles will be chief among them after firing Kevin Patullo. Daboll already has familiarity with Jalen Hurts, who quickly looked like a questionable NFL starter months after winning the Super Bowl LIX MVP award.

The Kansas City Chiefs could also be in the mix. One of their preferred targets, Mike Kafka, already interviewed with the Eagles, so Daboll could land in the Kingdom. Who knows? He may have access to coaching Pat Mahomes in Week 1 if the generational QB can recover in time from his torn ACL.

Other teams are sure to emerge. Ohio State has an uphill climb to sign someone established in the NFL back to College Football, but the best person to persuade is someone coming off a firing.

We'll see where Daboll and the Buckeyes end up this fall. Clarity should come in the next few weeks.
