Ohio State is still reeling from losing to Texas. It was the worst collapse in the history of the Ohio State football program. Ryan Day is under fire for a lot of the decisions that he made during that game that led the Buckeyes to blow a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter.
As bad as things are in Columbus right now, things are worse in Tallahassee. Florida State just fired its athletic director, and head coach Mike Norvell might be next. With that being the case, the Ohio State Buckeyes have their eyes on possibly flipping a Seminole recruit.
Ohio State is pursuing a four-star running back recruit committed to Florida State
According to Sam Spiegelman of Rivals, the Buckeyes will be hosting four-star running back recruit Jayden Miles for an official visit. He will also be visiting LSU, but the Buckeyes are hoping to make a better impression. Ohio State is still in need of a running back recruit in the 2027 class.
Ohio State lost out on David Gabriel Georges after Tennessee overpaid for him. The Buckeyes were not going to give everything to him that he got from the Volunteers. Getting Miles would be very helpful to round out the recruiting class, which started with so much promise.
While Ohio State has a couple of five-star recruits in this class, they could have had a couple more. Missing out on Gabriel Georges as well as Monshun Sales took some of the shine off this class. The 2028 class is off to a much better start, and that is where most of their focus on the recruiting trail lies right now.
Miles might be the only recruit that Ohio State is able to add to the 2027 class at this point in the process, as most of the other recruits they are pursuing are already in tow. Of course, there could be a couple of other guys they try to flip.
Ohio State has to stay strong after grueling loss to Texas
A grueling loss against the Longhorns has certainly taken a toll on the team, but they can still achieve all of their goals. They can still beat TTUN, win the Big Ten, and win a national championship. Of course, they will have to fix the issues that reared their ugly head during the Texas game in order to to do that.
Recruits around the country will be watching how Ryan Day and the Buckeyes respond to this loss. If they are able to bounce back and get back to being a dominant team, high school players will take notice. Of course, Ohio State should be able to do that.
Figuring out the issues that caused them to lose to the Longhorns will be the top priority over the next week or so. Ohio State's schedule is light over the next few weeks. This is the right time for them to address some underlying problems that could affect them down the road against the good teams they will take on.
