Up to this point, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has built a great 2026 recruiting class filled with four and five-star recruits. As of right now, the Buckeyes have the No. 9 recruiting class for 2026 with 21 commits, one five-star recruit, and 13 four-star recruits.

Day has the ability to add another one soon with the de-commitment of four-star defensive lineman Enamuel Ruffin. who recently left the Colorado Buffaloes and has opened up his recruitment. Ruffin is ranked as the No. 123 player in the Class of 2026, the No. 19 defensive lineman in his class, and the No. 9 player in the state of Alabama, according to 247Sports.

After his de-commitment from Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes, Ruffin said there are two teams standing out right now, but he has narrowed his list down to six teams. Ohio State stands among that list with Alabama, LSU, Florida, Missouri, and Auburn.

Now, Ohio State has something that three of those schools do not right now, and that is a head coach. Ruffin has LSU, Florida, and Auburn on that list, and all three of those schools have fired their head coaches this season.

So, if two schools are standing out to Ruffin right now, it is a real possibility that Ohio State could be one of them. Even though Ruffin had been committed to Colorado since late September, other schools weren't done reaching out.

It is clear that Day is going to make a solid play for Ruffin's commitment, as his presence on the Ohio State defense would be great. Day will be able to do what LSU, Auburn, and Florida can't simply by the fact that Ruffin will be able to meet his head coach, while those other schools don't even know who they are bringing in yet.

It seems like right now, the Buckeyes' biggest competition could be Missouri and Alabama, and two other top programs with coached those who have learned to recruit well.
