The Ohio State football program has always had high expectations. They are one of the premier programs in the country. If you play for the Ohio State Buckeyes, you are expected to be one of the best players at your position. That's the case for the Buckeyes who are getting ready for the 2025 NFL Draft.

There are likely going to be four Buckeyes taken in the top 10 at the end of the month. That is the level of talent that Ryan Day expects to have on his roster year in and year out. That is why fans have so high expectations, and he has finally started to understand that over the last few years.

Day knows that Ohio State is different from other programs across the country. He has very high expectations for the players in his program. He recently had some brutal honesty for recruits who are considering attending Ohio State over the next few years.

Ryan Day lays down the law on expectations for Ohio State football players

While appearing on Not Just Football, Day was pretty blunt about what he expects out of his players.

"I think it's just across the board at Ohio State. There's an expectation that if you come here, you're coming to be a first or second-rounder regardless of your position. And that's it. Just, you know, if we don't win games and championships, they're going to find a new coach. Well, if you're not a first or second-rounder, this probably isn't the right place for you. That's just the reality of it."

Day wants the best of the best playing for his team. He understands that competition brings out the best in players, and that's what he tries to create at all times. Getting the best players possible on the roster is what helps him win games and championships.

He understands that getting the top recruits in the country is part of what helps them win games and be the most successful team every year. Day says this to every recruit he sees, and only the best of the best are able to accept and embrace that.
