Whenever Ohio State and Michigan are in the same place at the same time, there's bound to be heat and Buckeyes forward Colin White provided the spark heading into Friday's game against the Wolverines.

White's contributions might not often show up on the score sheet, but no one can deny the sophomore forward's enthusiasm, especially when there's an opportunity to knock off the hated rival from the school up north.

Gotta love that from one of the young players that might be asked to do more to help Ohio State down the stretch run of conference play. Right now, the Buckeyes are sitting at 13-5 and a bubble team for the tournament, but a road win against the Wolverines would go a long way and deliver a much-needed signature win. Michigan is currently No. 1 in the KenPom ratings.

White could be in line for a bigger role vs. Michigan

The sophomore is averaging less than a point per game and a little over nine minutes on the floor, but he made the key play in Tuesday night's overtime win over Minnesota with a steal and score to give the Buckeyes a two-possession lead en route to the 82-74 final.

White says that coach Jake Diebler has been demanding more of the bench, and it's on the second team to come into the game and make sure there isn't much of a drop-off from the starting five.

"It's just keeping the same thing rolling, just coming in and not having any drop off from the bench guys and the starters," White said. "Just coming in and making the dirty plays. Getting offensive rebounds, getting assists, those are little things that the bench can do to help the starters out."

After a stretch of games where White barely got off the bench, Diebler gave him 19 minutes on Tuesday and kept him in the game for the key moments in overtime. If that is the confidence boost that White needed, it could pay dividends Friday night in Ann Arbor. And maybe White will get that pound of flesh from the Wolverines that he's looking for.
