So far this season, the Ohio State football program has only faced one good team. That was Texas, and they melted down in the fourth quarter of that game. It was a disappointing game, but they bounced back with a massive blowout victory over Kent State.
Now, the Big Ten portion of the schedule begins. The first opponent on that schedule is Illinois, which visits the Shoe on Saturday. They have beaten two bad teams and also lost to Duke. Now, Ohio State is ready to continue to fix some things against the Illini.
How to watch the Ohio State Buckeyes take on Illinois
The easiest way to watch the Buckeyes this Saturday is to tune into FOX at noon ET. They are the Big Noon Kickoff game for the second weekend in a row. This time, perhaps they will get more than a zombie Gus Johnson calling the game, who clearly was not excited to be in Columbus last Saturday.
This game is also available on foxsports.com, the FOX Sports App, FOX One, and it can also be streamed live on Fubo TV. There are plenty of ways for fans to consume the Buckeyes this weekend in what will be an interesting test when it comes to the adjustments they have made.
Ohio State vs. Illinois early odds
As expected, the Buckeyes are massive favorites to win this game. According to DraftKings, Ohio State is a 27.5-point favorite over the Fighting Illini. The over/under is set for 53.5 points, as well. Ohio State did cover last weekend, as they were 52.5-point favorites over the Golden Flashes.
Ohio State needs to figure out a way to consistently run the ball well in the first half of games. Perhaps they can do that against Illinois. Doing so would make some more of the fans on the negative side of the fanbase a bit happier. It would also set them up to play better against Iowa.
Ohio State vs. Illinois early prediction
Ohio State is still one of the best teams in the country, despite what happened in Austin. They shouldn't have any issues actually winning this game. The question is what the final winning margin of the game will be. That, and whether or not they solve some issues with the run game.
I don't see them having any revelations in the run game, but I do see them being able to win this game without too much effort. The talent they have on both sides of the ball is just so much better than what Illinois can bring to the table. Bret Bielema is doing his best, but he doesn't have the horses to compete.
Ohio State should be able to win this game 42-14. I do think the Illini will be able to score in this game, but the second half will see the Buckeyes pull away. It wouldn't be shocking to see Luke Fahey later in this game once Julian Sayin and the starters do quite a bit of damage.
