The Ohio State football team has already wrapped up its 2026 recruiting class by adding Legend Bey just a couple of weeks after the early signing period. Now that the class is taken care of, the Buckeyes have taken their attention to the 2027 recruiting cycle.
While the 2026 class is the second-worst recruiting class in the Ryan Day era, the 2027 class can bounce back. That's especially true if the Ohio State Buckeyes are able to add a second national championship in a row. The work for that starts in a couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, the Buckeyes have picked up another commitment for the 2027 class. Four-star linebacker Quinton Cypher committed to the Buckeyes, picking them over Georgia, Alabama, and Miami. Scoring a win over those programs is great for this team.
Ohio State football team adds four-star linebacker Quinton Cypher
Cypher is from Raleigh, North Carolina, and is a player that James Laruinaitis can build around in the linebacking room. He helps build some depth in that room after the Buckeyesd will lose both Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles to the NFL Draft once this season is over.
Laurinaitis has equipped himself well as a staffer in Columbus. He has done a great job bringing in talented players and has developed them equally well. Styles and Reese wouldn't be upcoming first-round picks if it weren't for him helping bring them along.
Cypher's commitment brings Ohio State's recruitment class to eight total commitments at this point. Cypher is the first linebacker recruit that Ohio State has in this class so far. He certainly won't be the only one that they will bring in. Laurinaitis will make sure of that.
Ohio State is going to have one of the top recruiting classes in the country next year once everything is finally finished. A second straight national title would certainly deliver a top-three class in 2027.
