The Ohio State football program is still trying to land some top prospects on the defensive side of the ball from the 2026 recruiting class. That includes the top defensive recruit that they have left on their board. That is defensive lineman Luke Wafle, a four-star defensive end.

Just a couple of days ago, it looked like the Buckeyes were out on Wafle. It looked like he was going to choose USC over the Buckeyes. He is a player that the Ohio State Buckeyes have had on their radar for a while. Now, it seems things have changed in a positive direction.

It now looks like the Buckeyes will be able to land a commitment from Wafle. According to ON3's Steve Wiltfong, Ohio State is now the favorite land Wafle. Wafle might commit as soon as Thursday, so Ohio State will know if they get him relatively soon.

Wafle is 6'6 and 245 pounds, so he has great size. He's someone who has a lot of power, and he uses that power to leverage offensive linemen off their spot. Wafle is someone that Larry Johnson should be able to do some very nice things with him, if he does commit.

Thursday could end up being a big day for the Buckeyes. There are rumors that Cincere Johnson could pick the Ohio State Buckeyes over Penn State and Alabama. They could also land a defensive tackle on Thursday as well. It's going to be a day that all Buckeye fans are watching.

If they are able to get multiple recruits on Thursday, they will be on their way to putting together a truly great recruiting class. Right now, they have the third-best recruiting class in the country. They still have more five-star recruits committed to them than anyone else.

Ryan Day is focused on adding more top-rated recruits this cycle. They also have some recruits visiting during the season-opener against Texas, and that could turn into a massive recruiting weekend, too. Adding Wafle would be great, too.
