The Ohio State football program has been trying to land a highly ranked running back recruit in the 2026 recruiting class. They have already struck out with Derrek Cooper, as he decided to commit to Texas instead of playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Right now, they only have one RB recruit in the class.
Favour Akih is a three-star recruit who is an in-state running back. He is the only RB in the 2026 class right now, but the Buckeyes still have hope that they can land a five-star recruit. Savion Hiter has been the running back recruit whom they are hoping to land.
Hiter is rated as the best running back recruit in the country and is the ninth-best overall recruit in the country. He is from the state of Louisiana and has narrowed down his list to four schools. He has decided when he will commit to his school of choice.

Hiter announced that he would be committing on August 19th. He is choosing between four schools, including TTUN. Other than Ohio State and Michigan, he will also be choosing between Georgia and Tennessee. Right now, it seems that Tennessee is the favorite to get him.
Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, Hiter is not likely to choose Ohio State unless they decide to unload some NIL money. Based on everything we know about Ryan Day and Ross Bjork, that doesn't seem very likely. Ohio State would love to bring him in, but they might not be able to.
Ohio State has a few more weeks to make an impression on him, so perhaps they can come up with something that no one is expecting. Carlos Locklyn has shown that he can be a great recruiter, so he could come up with something that could end up getting him to commit.
