The Ohio State football team came into Saturday's game with a ton of confidence that they would be able to take down the Purdue Boilermakers. Purdue had yet to win a Big Ten game and looked like the worst team in the conference for most of the season.
Still, the Buckeyes came out a bit sluggish. They had an early deficit, being down 3-0 after one quarter. Those three points would be the only ones the Boilermakers would score until garbage time, as the Ohio State Buckeyes won the game 34-10 in what was a stress-free victory.
Ohio State won this game despite being down two starters on offense. Phillip Daniels, who came into the game questionable, ended up sitting out. Carnell Tate was held out of the game, much to the surprise of Buckeye fans, as well. Still, Ohio State won without worries, unlike IU.
The Ohio State football team gets an easy victory over Purdue
While Ohio State got an easy win, Indiana did no such thing. They had to survive the game with a toe-tapping catch in the back of the end zone in order to beat a Penn State team that Ohio State blew out just a week ago. These two teams clearly aren't the same. Ohio State has much more talent.
Julian Sayin had over 300 passing yards, which is much better than what Fernando Mendoza was able to muster against the Nittany Lions. Sayin continues to be the Heisman front-runner, as he should be. Jeremiah Smith had another fantastic touchdown catch, finishing with 10 catches for 137 yards.
Did Ohio State try its hardest in this game? No. But they clearly didn't have to. They just wanted to get through this game without suffering any more injuries and move on to next week. The Buckeyes have just two more games to play before they travel to Ann Arbor, where they look for some revenge.
Ohio State football fans had a stress-free weekend. IU fans should be worried that they couldn't say the same.
