When the Ohio State football team lost to Oregon, they lost more than just the game. The one-point loss was obviously a big deal, but they Buckeyes also lost two players to injury over the course of the game. They lost tight end Will Kacmarek, whom might miss the rest of the season.

The Ohio State Buckeyes also lost Josh Simmons, the starting left tackle. While Kacmarek is a fine player, losing Simmons is a much bigger deal. He had transformed into one of the best offensive linemen that Ohio State has after a rough first year as a starter.

Unfortunately, Simmons was carted off the field and likely won't be back this season either. The Buckeyes have to find someone to take his place. During his radio show, Day announced who they will be starting at left tackle for now, although that's subject to change.

Day said that Zen Michalski will be the left tackle right now. He is who replaced Simmons during the Oregon game after the injury. He didn't look great in his time out there, but he wasn't awful either. He's been in the program for quite a while now. As a senior, he should be ready for this challenge.

If Michalski doesn't work out, Day mentioned that both Donovan Jackson and Tegra Tshabola could be candidates to kick out to tackle. Obviously, Day is hoping that Michalski will work out. This is where the lack of depth on the offensive line is really starting to hurt the team.

If Michalski doesn't play well, that will significantly change how the Buckeyes run their offense. They'll have to give him help in pass protection and run to the right if he can't move people in the ground game. It's a rough injury to have to deal with.

The offensive line is the one spot on the team that doesn't have much depth. This is the worst time for this to happen as well. At least the bye week has given Day time to evaluate his options.
