Spring ball is around the corner for Ryan Day and Ohio State. This is going to be the first time the Buckeyes hit the practice field since the disheartening end to the 2025 campaign, with back-to-back losses being posted vs. Indiana and Miami.
Think the returning standouts are motivated to wipe away those rough memories? You bet. Such is the case for senior wideout Brandon Inniss, who finished with 271 receiving yards and three touchdowns last campaign.
In an interview this week with the team over at Eleven Warriors, the veteran wideout didn't hesitate in saying he still has a sour taste in his mouth for how last season ended. It absolutely is fueling him and his teammates as they get ready to hit the ground running for 2026 prep.
Ohio State WR Brandon Inniss hasn't forgotten about the rough end to the season
"We've still got a bad taste in our mouth,” Inniss told Eleven Warriors' Andy Anders. “This whole year, we're going to be living with that, what happened to us. But we've got to work hard. Ain't nothing going to be given to us. We've just got to be where our feet are right now and work hard in the offseason.”
Those are the words of someone who is still shaking his head at how things went down to close out '25. Ohio State lost in the Big Ten title game to Indiana, a contest the Buckeyes let slip away. Then in the College Football Playoff, the Canes stunned us all by taking down Ohio State.
The dream of going back-to-back was quickly cut short, but the good news for Day and his staff is that there's a ton of returning talent back in Columbus. The list of course includes Inniss, Jeremiah Smith, Julian Sayin and many more.
Come March 10, the first day of spring ball will arrive and we're going to get our first look at what this '26 group is going to be made of. Don't be shocked when several guys played ticked off and hungry to keep improving. Inniss will be among the Ohio State standouts hoping to prove all the doubters wrong come Week 1 and beyond too.
