The Ohio State football team has finished everything related to its Spring program. They have now added everyone that they can from the transfer portal, and have been finished with Spring practice for a month now. This is the team that will be on the field to defend the national championship.

Now that Spring is over, the Buckeyes will be focused on getting better with their strength and conditioning. The freshman will work on learning the playbook and getting stronger. The returning starters will be looking at ways to play even better this year.

With everything finished, it's time that we give the Ohio State Buckeyes an overall grade for everything that they did this Spring. From the Spring Game to the transfer portal additions, it's time to give them a grade on what they were able to accomplish.

Grading the Ohio State football team's Spring

While the Buckeyes added a couple of players from the Spring transfer portal, by far the one who will make the biggest impact is Beau Atkinson. Atkinson comes in from North Carolina as a proven pass rusher who can really get after the quarterback, something Ohio State didn't have on the roster.

Another great thing from the transfer portal is the fact that the Buckeyes didn't lose any scholarship players to the portal this Spring. That says a lot about what kind of culture Ryan Day has built and how many guys want to stick around.

Overall grade: B+

The Buckeyes get high marks for not losing any meaningful players to the portal, but they could have added a defensive tackle from the portal. That would have made fans feel a lot better about the defensive line.

As far as the Spring Game goes, it was a bit of a mixed bag. It would have been nice to see Julian Sayin play a bit better, but the running backs looked good. The defensive line was so poor in that game that they went after Atkinson really hard to add him.

Overall, Ohio State football fans should be excited about what the team has for this season. They have a real shot at defending their national title.
