Five-star wide receiver recruit Jamier Brown has been committed to the Buckeyes for almost a year at this point. The 2027 recruit is rated as the top receiver in the country. He is also having other schools try to get him to flip his recruitment, but he looks locked in with the Ohio State football program.
Brown is one of the best players in the entire country, and he wants to be able to cash in on that opportunity. We told you about the lawsuit he filed to be able to earn NIL money while a high school player. Ohio is currently one of six states in which high school players can't earn NIL money.
Brown said that he filed that lawsuit so that he and other players are able to earn what they are worth. He also did it so that players don't start moving out of the state so they can get NIL money in other states. Now, it looks like he will temporarily be able to earn NIL money.
Ohio State football recruit Jamier Brown gets temporary restraining order to start earning NIL money
A Franklin county judge has granted Brown a temporary restraining order, meaning that he is able to earn NIL money for now. The OHSAA had already been scheduled to vote on potentially allowing this rule change, but this lawsuit might end up making that happen sooner.
Brown is likely going to get a healthy sum of NIL money when he gets to Columbus, anyway. He is a five-star recruit who might be the next great Ohio State receiver once he gets to campus. Now, he is going to be able to add more money to his bank account in his senior year of high school.
This lawsuit likely will be the catalyst to changing this rule across the entire state. The Buckeyes will certainly be watching this for future recruits in the state of Ohio, too.
