The Ohio State football team has a lot of recruiting to still do for this class. They started out slowly, as they started to slide down the recruiting rankings for a few weeks. Now, things are starting to pick back up. In fact, they have picked up a few predictions to land recruits lately.
At the end of the month, the Buckeyes have several visits scheduled with recruits. The last weekend in May will see them have several big-time recruits on campus. This is usually when things start to pick up for the Ohio State Buckeyes, anyway. The summer is when commitments roll in.
As the days keep rolling, Ohio State continues to get some crystal ball predictions for elite recruits. They have now picked up another one for a member of the defense. They are now projected to get a commitment from a four-star linebacker from the state of Missouri.
The Ohio State football team picks up prediction for four-star linebacker
According to On3, the Buckeyes are now predicted to land a commitment from four-star linebacker Prince Goldsby. Goldsby is listed as the number-one linebacker in the state of Missouri. He is 6'3 and 205 pounds, so he has pretty good size at the linebacker position.
James Laurinaitis has done a fantastic job since becoming the linebackers coach. His recruiting has been great over the last couple of years, and he has landed some five-star recruits. He also developed both Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles into top 10 draft picks.
Laurinaitis is one of the best linebackers in the history of Ohio State football, so he knows what he's looking for when it comes to talent. He knows what it takes to excel at that spot. Goldsby knows that, and that is likely one of the big reasons why he will eventually commit to the Buckeyes.
Ohio State will start to shoot up the recruiting rankings soon
With some of the predictions they have picked up, Ohio State could shoot up the recruiting rankings soon. Last season was the worst full cycle that Ryan Day has had by the rankings since he became the head coach. He is looking to change that for the 2027 recruiting class.
Day has repeatedly said that he wants the majority of how Ohio State builds the roster to be done by high school recruiting instead of the Transfer Portal. It looks like the Buckeyes have also upped their NIL spending when it comes to high school recruiting based on the caliber of recruits they are landing.
The CSC is still holding up some NIL deals within the Big Ten. It's unclear how much of that money is coming from Ohio State, but that doesn't seem great. Regardless, it looks like Ohio State has evolved when it comes to their NIL spending, which should make fans happy.
It's unclear when Goldsby will make his official commitment announcement. Based on this crystal ball prediction, it sounds like it will come relatively soon. Ohio State will be happy when he does.
