The Ohio State football program is the premier school in the country when it comes to recruiting and developing wide receivers. They have had first-round picks at the receiver position in each of the last four drafts. It's clear that if recruits want to play in the NFL at that spot, they need to go to Ohio State.
Brian Hartline has been the best recruiter at the wide receiver spot in the entire country. He is perhaps the most valuable recruiter in the country. He just landed another receiver, adding yet another talented player to a stable of receivers that he has at his disposal.
Four-star receiver recruit Jerquaden Guilford decided to commit to the Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday night. He becomes the fourth receiver in this class, and it's likely the final one that Ryan Day will bring in. He chose the Buckeyes over Ole Miss, Indiana, and TTUN.
The Ohio State football team lands its fourth receiver recruit of the 2026 recruiting class
Guilford stands at 6'2.5 and 190 pounds out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He goes to Northrop High School and is someone the Buckeyes have been recruiting for a while. His high school team stinks, so that's why he was so far down in the recruiting rankings. But Hartline does a great job of finding diamonds in the rough.
Hartline has more than earned the benefit of the doubt when it comes to finding recruits at the receiver spot. The Buckeyes have a lot of players in front of him on the depth chart, so it will take a lot of time for Guilford to see the field. He is going to have to work hard.
Ohio State has several five-star recruits at the receiver position, so Guilford will have to prove it on the field. That doesn't mean he can't, though. He just needs an opportunity to play for a better team with a quarterback who can get him the ball in better spots on the field.
Hartline will certainly be able to scheme up some good plays for him to get open, as well.
