The Ohio State football program started out slowly when it comes to defensive line recruiting. Larry Johnson isn't as active on the recruiting trail as he once was. That doesn't mean that he can't still land some recruits, especially when he gets some help from Matt Patricia.
Johnson and the Buckeyes have now landed two defensive line recruits in as many days. Friday, they were able to land Damari Simeon. On Saturday, they were able to grab Cameron Brickle, another defensive tackle. Now, the defensive line is shaping up a lot better.
Brickle is a three-star recruit from the state of Florida. He goes to IMG Academy. He's someone that has a lot of potential, but hasn't gotten to show it because he has been saddled with some injuries. The Ohio State Buckeyes have liked what they have seen, though.
Cameron Brickle commits to the Ohio State football program
Brickle becomes just the second defensive tackle that the Buckeyes have added in the 2026 recruiting class. He is just a three-star recruit, so he's not the best player that they have brought in. Still, Ohio State needs depth on the defensive line. Getting anyone in there is good right now.
Ohio State needs to take a couple more defensive linemen in this class. They need as much depth on the offensive and defensive lines as they can get. They haven't been able to build depth on either line in the last few years, and that's something they need to change.
There's still a chance that Brickle outplays his rating. He is 6'2 and 305 pounds, so he's certainly a wid ebody in the middle. The Buckeyes need those kinds of guys to stop the run right up the guy. Brickle is hoping to make an impact in the next couple of seasons.
Ohio State is hoping to get a couple of higher-rated defensive linemen before the class is taken care of. Johnson needs to keep recruiting hard enough to land them.
