The Ohio State football program took down Ohio 37-9 in the first matchup between the two teams in 15 years. It was a game in which the Buckeyes struggled to execute in the red zone, but they ultimately got the win, which was the biggest thing they wanted out of the matchup.

This matchup was the first time that these two programs have met since the infamous mascot incident between Rufus and Brutus. Rufus decided to just attack Brutus for no reason, as the Ohio State Buckeyes were running onto the field. It was really bizarre.

Obviously, the Buckeyes were going to make sure that nothing like that happened this time around. In fact, they were able to have a light-hearted moment between the two mascots, making sure that everyone knew what happened 15 years ago wasn't going to happen again.

The Ohio State football program has Brutus beat Rufus in a tug-of-war matchup

During the game, the Buckeyes made sure to have Brutus and Rufus participate in a tug-of-war match. Brutus won the matchup, and there was a scoreboard that gave one point to Rufus from the incident 15 years ago and one point to Brutus for winning tug-of-war.

This wasn't the only event that the mascots participated in. They also had a race on the field. Brutus also won that matchup, showing that he clearly has mascot superiority over Rufus.

It was fun to see the two mascots patch things up after a student decided to go rogue the last time these two teams were in the Shoe. Now that the incident is smoothed over, there is no reason that these two teams can't play more often than once every 15 years in non-conference games.

Ohio State was able to get a win on the field with the football team and with their mascot. It was a solid night for the Buckeyes as they continue their march towards defending their national championship.
