The Ohio State football program turned into a national powerhouse when the Buckeyes hired Jim Tressel. Tressel won a national championship in just his second season coaching the team. He started recruiting more on a national scale and had Ohio State in the thick of the BCS race every year.

Tressel had the Ohio State Buckeyes playing in three different national championship games. He was fired for something that is now legal in today's NIL world, so he has been welcomed back by the university more than a few times. He has helped Ryan Day since he's been a head coach, too.

Tressel, who is now the Lieutenant Governor of the state of Ohio, has now gotten another honor from the Buckeyes. He has been picked as the Victory Bell ringer for the game this weekend against Rutgers, which is also Senior Day.

The Buckeyes announced this decision on social media. Ohio State fans love Tressel, and he still has a deep connection to the university despite what happened when they ended up firing him. It seems that both parties have put that incident behind them.

It is a little surprising that the Buckeyes didn't choose a bigger game earlier this season to have him do this. Once they announced this new tradition, Tressel was immediately thought of as a possible person to do this. Rutgers is not a tough opponent for Ohio State, and it should be a blowout victory.

Perhaps that's what Ohio State wants. They want him to be on campus to do this in a game that they will definitely emerge victorious. Even if some key players don't play against the Scarlet Knights, Ohio State should be able to win this game without too many issues.

The fans will give Tressel a warm welcome when he rings the bell, just as they will cheer the seniors when they run out of the tunnel for the final time.
