No assistant coaches have been able to bring in more recruits for the Ohio State football team this year than Tyler Bowen. Bowen has done a good job of getting on the recruiting trail and adding some much-needed depth up front, even if some of the players aren't the highest-rated recruits.

Before Monday, the Ohio State Buckeyes had four offensive line recruits for the 2026 recruiting class. That's out of a total of 20 commits for the class. After some years of poor depth under Greg Studrawa, the Buckeyes have been fighting an uphill battle to fix that.

Bowen has been trying to flip some recruits late in the recruiting cycle so they can add a fifth offensive lineman in this class. For a while, they have been targeting Landry Brede, a three-star offensive lineman from Mentor, Ohio. He has now officially flipped his recruitment.

Brede had been committed to NC State since June, so it hasn't been a longstanding commitment. Once the Buckeyes missed on a couple of high-profile offensive linemen, including Felix Ojo, they started to turn their attention towards Brede to see if he would flip his commitment.

That's what he has now done. That gives Ohio State 21 total recruits in the class so far. Brede officially got an offer from the Buckeyes about a month ago, and that's when rumors of him changing his decision started to flow. Once that offer happened, it was all but over.

This is almost certainly the last offensive lineman that Ohio State will take this cycle. They will now focus on flipping recruits at other positions, such as cornerback, running back, and defensive line. The Buckeyes are in a great position to rapidly increase their recruiting class ranking before Signing Day in December.

As for Brede, he will likely be a backup tackle to start out his career. The Buckeyes still have plenty of hope that he can eventually turn into a starter with some collegiate coaching.
