The Ohio State football team was able to handle Texas in the biggest season-opening game in the history of the Shoe. It was a great game for the Buckeyes to have in their first game, especially on defense. Ohio State's defense was phenomenal throughout the entire season.

Ohio State's offensive line was great in pass protection throughout the entire game, not letting Julian Sayin get sacked once. They had some motivation after Colin Simmons talked some smack before the game started with his social media posts just after Sayin was named the starter.

Phillip Daniels ended up winning the starting right tackle job. He was tasked with blocking Simmons for a lot of the game. He recently revealed how he was able to make sure that Simmons was not going to touch Sayin, especially after Simmons insulted Daniels.

Ohio State football tackle Phillip Daniels made Colin Simmons eat his words

Daniels talked to the media about how he was able to draw a key penalty on Simmons during the game that negated a safety, right after Simmons called him "trash".

"Before the play, he smacked my helmet off, and he was like, "You trash". I was like, "Huh? Me? I know you're not talking to me." Hemmed him up, he took my helmet off, still going — I had a few choice words."

Simmons was clearly getting frustrated that Daniels was able to handle him throughout the course of the game. He was not able to really even touch Sayin. For a great edge player like Simmons, that had to make him mad. he was trying to back up the trash talk that he had.

In the end, the Ohio State Buckeyes were able to win the game, which is all that really matters. They start the season 1-0 and have now won two straight games over the Longhorns. Now, they will move on to play a team that they should be able to score a lot more points on, which is something the offense needs for their confidence.

Texas now has very little wiggle room if they are going to make the College Football Playoff for the second straight year. They can likely only afford one more loss before they will be eliminated from contention. The Buckeyes still have plenty of leeway with this win, and they have earned that breathing room.

Grambling State is next for the Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon.
